Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast: A Detailed Look at Taiwan’s Changing Conditions
As of March 8th, 2026, Taiwan is experiencing a shift in weather patterns. This detailed forecast, based on the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) model, provides a comprehensive overview of what to expect in the coming days.
Today’s Weather (March 8th)
Yesterday’s (March 7th) temperatures ranged from approximately 19°C to 30°C across Taiwan. This morning’s observations show thicker cloud cover in the eastern half of the island, accompanied by precipitation primarily over the eastern seas. Localized rainfall is occurring in the eastern part of Greater Taipei and Yilan. As of 5:22 AM, the lowest temperature recorded on the plains was 10.1°C in Touhu Township, Miaoli County, with most areas experiencing lows between 11°C and 13°C.
The prevailing ‘Northeasterly Monsoon’ is influencing conditions today. Expect localized, brief showers on the windward slopes of eastern Taiwan and the eastern side of Greater Taipei. The western side of Greater Taipei will be mostly cloudy, while areas south of Hsinchu will enjoy clear and stable weather. Temperatures will gradually rise throughout the day, with northern Taiwan feeling cool to slightly cold and a significant temperature difference between day and night in central and southern regions.
Tomorrow’s Forecast (March 9th) and Beyond
Tomorrow, the wind will shift to a more easterly direction, bringing slightly increased moisture. Localized, brief showers are still expected in Greater Taipei and eastern Taiwan. However, a weather front will approach and a cold air mass will move in during the afternoon of March 9th and continue through Tuesday, March 10th. This will bring localized, brief showers to northern and eastern Taiwan and cause temperatures to drop.
The Taipei weather station is forecast to reach around 14°C tomorrow evening, potentially meeting the definition of a ‘Continental Cold Air Mass’. Low temperatures across the plains are expected to fall to around 10°C. Radiational cooling will further lower temperatures by another degree between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, so it’s crucial to dress warmly. Wednesday daytime will see a slight temperature increase, but localized showers remain possible in the east.
Looking Ahead: March 12th – 17th
By Thursday afternoon (March 12th), the leading edge of a ‘Continental High-Pressure System’ will pass through Greater Taipei, potentially bringing scattered showers. Following this, dry and cold air will move in, leading to clearing skies but colder temperatures. From Friday (March 13th) through the following Tuesday (March 17th), the dry air from the ‘Continental High-Pressure System’ will dominate, resulting in clear and stable weather. Days will be comfortably warm, but nights will be cool due to strong radiational cooling, creating a large temperature difference between day and night.
There’s a chance of another ‘Continental Cold Air Mass’ (Taipei station ≤ 14°C) late Thursday and early Friday, potentially dropping plain temperatures below 10°C again. Additionally, humidity will be low from Friday onwards, creating dry conditions. Those visiting mountain areas for tomb-sweeping ceremonies should be especially cautious of fire hazards.
