Kacey Montoya Returns to KTLA for a Weekend Farewell

Just a week after KTLA announced layoffs affecting several longtime journalists, a familiar face is returning to the air. Kacey Montoya, the station’s popular weathercaster, will be back on the weekend weather desk starting Saturday, March 7th, continuing through early April. This comes after the difficult decision by Nexstar, KTLA’s owner, to let go of Montoya alongside fellow meteorologist Mark Kriski, anchors Lu Parker and Glen Walker, and reporter Ellina Abovian on February 25th.

The departing employees were given a 60-day notice, and Montoya has chosen to utilize that time to continue serving the KTLA audience. She announced her plans in a heartfelt video posted to her Instagram page on March 5th, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support she’s received.

A Message of Gratitude and Resilience

“I want to thank everyone who’s reached out for your love and support that you’ve shown me over the past week,” Montoya shared. “I had no idea that I had made such an impact on so many of your lives. To say that I’m overwhelmed would be an understatement, so honestly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for that.”

Montoya reflected on her 13 years with KTLA, emphasizing her passion for the job. “As you know, my time at KTLA is coming to an end after 13 years,” she continued. “But I truly love this job and love being able to come into your home and bring you the forecast and bring you my animal welfare stories.”

What’s Next for Kacey Montoya?

While her time at KTLA is drawing to a close, Montoya is far from slowing down. She plans to dedicate herself full-time to Fix’n Fidos, her non-profit organization dedicated to spaying and neutering pets in Southern California. You can learn more about their important work at Fix’n Fidos.

“I’ll be running my non-profit, Fix’n Fidos, full-time during the week and then exploring some other opportunities,” Montoya explained. She encourages viewers to tune in during her remaining weekend shifts.

“But in the meantime, join me this weekend so we can celebrate these last few weeks. I’ll see you then!”

Don’t miss Kacey Montoya’s final weeks on KTLA, and continue to support her vital work with Fix’n Fidos. This is a testament to her dedication to both broadcasting and animal welfare.
