Hannah Green Secures Victory at HSBC Women’s World Championship

Australia’s Hannah Green has emerged victorious at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, showcasing remarkable skill and composure under pressure. The final LPGA leaderboard saw Green finish at -14, edging out American Auston Kim by a single stroke. The tournament, filled with dramatic moments, culminated in a heartwarming win for Green, made even more special by the unique circumstances surrounding her caddie.

A Husband’s Support: A Unique Caddie Situation

What made Green’s win particularly noteworthy was the presence of her husband, Jarryd Felton, on the bag. With her regular caddie unable to travel from the USA due to ongoing green card application processes, Felton, a professional golfer himself, stepped in for the second time this year. This unexpected turn of events proved to be a stroke of luck for Green.

“It was absolutely a team effort over the last two weeks, and it’s very special to share my seventh win, which is also my favourite number, with him,” Green shared after her victory. “My usual caddie is applying for a green card and couldn’t leave the US, so it wasn’t part of the plan for the season. Luckily, my husband was able to pick up the bag for me.”

A Commanding Performance on the Course

Green began the final round tied with Minjee Lee, but quickly took control with an early birdie and a spectacular eagle on the eighth hole. She continued to build her lead with three additional birdies, demonstrating her exceptional form. Despite a slightly shaky finish with bogeys on the final two holes, Green held on to win the tournament for the second time in three years, having previously triumphed in 2024.

Handling the Pressure

The pressure of the final round was palpable, and Green admitted to feeling nervous. However, Felton’s calm guidance proved invaluable. “I was feeling nervous and told Jarryd a couple of times that I wasn’t comfortable. He reminded me to take a deep breath, have a snack or even sip some water,” she explained. “I haven’t played with this kind of adrenaline in a long time, and we handled it really well.”

The HSBC Women’s World Championship showcased not only incredible golfing talent but also the power of teamwork and support. Hannah Green’s victory is a testament to her skill, resilience, and the unwavering support of her husband.
