Jonathan Majors Embarks on New Action Project
EXCLUSIVE: Following a period of rebuilding, Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Creed III and Ant-Man, is set to star in a new action film. Cameras are rolling this week in South Carolina on the untitled project, a collaboration between The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. This marks Majors’ first movie role in four years.
A Nostalgic Action Vibe
Kyle Rankin (Run Hide Fight) is directing from his own screenplay. While details remain under wraps, the film’s storyline is said to draw inspiration from classic ’80s and ’90s action movies like Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers – tales of groups banding together against overwhelming odds.
The Team Behind the Project
Ben Shapiro (The Ben Shapiro Show) and Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk) are producing for The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, respectively. Joining them are Travis Mills (Frontier Crucible), Lillian Campbell (The Pendragon Cycle), and Sydney Aucreman (Terror On The Prairie). Caleb Robinson and Mike Richards are executive-producing, alongside Majors himself through Tall Street Productions, and Jason Ramos (Landman).
A Career in Transition
Majors’ career gained significant momentum with performances in films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Magazine Dreams, as well as his work in the HBO series Lovecraft Country. However, his career faced a setback following a 2023 conviction for assaulting his former girlfriend, leading to him being dropped from several projects.
This new role represents a significant step in his career revival. He is also attached to star in the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless from Martin Villeneuve, announced earlier in 2024.
The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend: A Platform for Second Chances
The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend have demonstrated a willingness to offer opportunities to actors facing career challenges. They previously provided roles to Armie Hammer and Gina Carano after their respective departures from other projects. Their latest venture, the TV series The Pendragon Cycle, has been their most ambitious project to date.
Behind the Scenes
Kristopher Kimlin (Young Washington) will serve as cinematographer, while David Guglielmo (The Standoff At Sparrow Creek) is handling casting. Vincent Reynaud (Kandahar) is the production designer, and Emma Fleming (The Last Stop In Yuma County) will design the costumes.
This project reunites The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend with Rankin, who previously wrote and directed their film Run Hide Fight, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2020.
Majors is represented by WME and Fox Rothschild. Rankin is repped by UTA, Greenlit Management, and attorney Stephen Clark.
