School Closings in Watauga County – February 23rd

Watauga County Schools to Operate on Remote Learning Day – February 23rd

WATAUGA, NC – Due to significant snowfall across the district, with further accumulation predicted overnight and throughout Monday, February 23rd, Watauga County Schools will transition to a remote learning day. This decision prioritizes the safety of students and staff amidst challenging weather conditions.

Important Details for Students & Staff

  • No Students Report to Buildings: All students will participate in learning remotely.
  • Teacher & Staff Options: Teachers and instructional staff have the option to work remotely.
  • Staff Reporting to Buildings: Staff required to report to school buildings will operate on a two-hour delay and are urged to exercise extreme caution while traveling.

Remote Learning Schedules

  • K-8 Students: Instruction will begin at 10:00 a.m., following the schedule provided by their respective teachers.
  • WVA Students: Will adhere to the established WVA schedule.
  • High School Students: Instruction will commence at 10:30 a.m.

Holiday/Snow Day Program at Hardin Park

The Holiday/Snow Day Program at Hardin Park will be open at 9:00 a.m., providing a supervised activity option for families.
