Genesis Invitational 2026: Tracking the Cut Line at Riviera
The 2026 Genesis Invitational at the iconic Riviera Country Club is underway, and we’re closely monitoring the cut line to see which PGA Tour stars will be playing on the weekend. Unpredictable weather, including rain delays during the first round, has added an extra layer of complexity to tracking player standings.
The Challenge of Round 1 & 2
The initial rounds presented a unique challenge. Players were completing their first rounds while simultaneously beginning their second, making it a dynamic situation for cut line projections. While all players have now finished their first rounds, the uncertainty surrounding the completion of Round 2 added to the suspense.
Scottie Scheffler’s Rocky Start
World number one Scottie Scheffler experienced a challenging start, finding himself 5 over through his first 10 holes. Despite these early struggles, Scheffler has consistently demonstrated resilience this season, never finishing outside the top 5 in his three previous tournaments. His ability to recover will be a key storyline to watch.
Players to Watch
With a limited field for this Signature Event, fewer cuts will be made. Players like J.J. Spaun, Justin Rose, and Russell Henley are looking to capitalize on Day 2 and secure their place in the weekend rounds. Their performance will be crucial as they aim to climb the leaderboard.
Current Cut Line Projections (as of 6:45 p.m. ET)
- Projected Cut Line: Even par
- The cut line has been steadily rising throughout the afternoon, starting at 4 over.
- Players at even par or better are currently projected to qualify for weekend play.
- Data Golf estimates the cut line will remain at even par or potentially rise to 1 over by the end of Round 2.
Cut Line History & Qualification
Historically, the Genesis Invitational has seen varying cut lines. In 2024 at Riviera, 51 players made the cut at 1 over. Last year, at Torrey Pines, 54 players qualified at 4 over. This year, with 72 golfers in the field, at least 50 are guaranteed to play on the weekend, with the possibility of more qualifying through ties and within 10 strokes of the lead.
