Manon Katseye Announces Temporary Hiatus to Prioritize Health
Manon Bannerman, a valued member of the six-person global girl group Katseye, is stepping back from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing. This announcement comes shortly after Katseye received Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and their captivating performance during the ceremony.
Hybe and Geffen Records jointly announced the decision via Weverse, stating it followed “open and thoughtful conversations.” The statement emphasized full support for Manon’s decision and reaffirmed Katseye’s dedication to each other and their fans. The companies stressed that Katseye “remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”
Katseye to Continue Activities During Manon’s Hiatus
Despite Manon’s temporary absence, Katseye plans to continue with scheduled activities. The group expressed optimism about reuniting when the time is right. This demonstrates their resilience and commitment to delivering for their fanbase.
A Focus on Authenticity and Mental Wellbeing
In a June interview with Rolling Stone, Manon discussed the group’s second EP, Beautiful Chaos, describing it as “so authentic to who we are right now.” She highlighted the increased attention to detail in their artistry and the fulfilling creative process. “We’ve paid a lot more attention to detail,” Manon shared. “It’s been a really fun experience and it feels authentic to us.”
The group has proactively addressed the challenges of fame, even engaging a group therapist to navigate the pressures of modern stardom. Last fall, Katseye members revealed to the BBC that they had been subjected to a disturbing wave of death threats and online harassment following their debut. Manon described the experience as “very terrorizing on the mind.”
This hiatus underscores the importance of prioritizing mental and physical health, even amidst the demands of a burgeoning music career. Katseye’s transparency and commitment to wellbeing set a positive example for the industry and their fans.
