Kimmy Repond and Livia Kaiser Advance to Free Skate at the Olympics

Milan, Italy – February 17, 2026 – Swiss figure skating experienced a promising start at the Olympic Games as both Kimmy Repond and Livia Kaiser successfully navigated the short program, securing their spots in the free skate competition on Thursday. This marks a significant milestone for Swiss women’s figure skating, being the first time since 1984, when Sandra Cariboni and Myriam Oberwiler competed in Sarajevo, that two Swiss women have been represented in the Olympic singles event.

Short Program Results

Kimmy Repond delivered a solid performance, earning 59.20 points. While a commendable score, it was slightly below her personal best and her performance at the European Championships in January, where she finished 6th in the short program with 59.28 points. Repond’s potential shines through, as she previously achieved a high score of 68.68 points at last year’s European Championships.

Livia Kaiser faced a more challenging short program, incurring point deductions due to a fall. She finished with 55.69 points, falling short of her best of 66.31 points from the 2024 European Championships. Despite the setback, Kaiser managed to secure the final qualifying spot for the free skate.

Overcoming Obstacles

The road to the Olympics wasn’t easy for either skater. Kimmy Repond battled persistent foot problems, making her return to competition at the European Championships in Sheffield in January after an eight-month injury break. Livia Kaiser also faced adversity, suffering a calf injury a year ago and enduring a lengthy recovery process.

Competition Standings

Leading the competition after the short program is 17-year-old Japanese skater Ami Nakai with an impressive score of 78.71. She is closely followed by compatriot Kaori Sakamoto (77.23) and American Alysa Liu (76.59).

The free skate, featuring the top 24 skaters, promises to be an exciting event. Fans will be eagerly watching to see if Repond and Kaiser can build on their short program performances and deliver strong routines. You can find more information about the Olympics on the official Olympic website.

This is a historic moment for Swiss figure skating, and the nation will be cheering on Kimmy Repond and Livia Kaiser as they compete for Olympic glory.
