Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast: A Detailed Look at Taiwan’s Conditions
This report provides a comprehensive overview of Taiwan’s weather conditions, covering today, February 12th, and extending through the Lunar New Year holiday. We’ll examine current temperatures, precipitation patterns, and a detailed forecast for the coming days.
Yesterday’s Temperatures (February 11th)
Yesterday saw regional high temperatures ranging from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius:
- Northern Taiwan (Sanxia District, New Taipei City): 22.3°C
- Central Taiwan (Zhukixi Township, Chiayi County): 28.2°C
- Southern Taiwan (Neipu Township, Pingtung County): 30.0°C
- Eastern Taiwan (Taitung City, Taitung County): 27.5°C
Current Conditions (February 12th – Morning)
As of 5:22 AM today, observations show scattered cloud cover in eastern Taiwan. Rainfall is primarily offshore. No precipitation has been reported inland. The lowest temperatures recorded across Taiwan’s plains are:
- Northern Taiwan (Shimen District, New Taipei City): 12.2°C
- Central Taiwan (Zhukixi Township, Chiayi County): 10.0°C
- Southern Taiwan (Nanxi District, Tainan City): 10.1°C
- Eastern Taiwan (Donghe Township, Taitung County): 12.9°C
The lowest plains temperatures range from 10 to 13 degrees Celsius. Please update this information if conditions change.
Today’s Forecast (February 12th)
The latest ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) model simulations (as of February 11th, 8 PM) indicate improving weather conditions across Taiwan today. Northern regions will be partly cloudy, while central and southern Taiwan will experience sunny to partly cloudy skies. Eastern Taiwan may see occasional, localized showers, but the probability is decreasing. Daytime temperatures will rise, resulting in a significant day-night temperature difference.
- Northern Taiwan: 12 to 23°C
- Central Taiwan: 10 to 28°C
- Southern Taiwan: 10 to 29°C
- Eastern Taiwan: 13 to 26°C
Lunar New Year Outlook (February 13th – 15th)
The latest models predict clear and stable weather with warming temperatures from tomorrow through “Little New Year” (February 13th-15th). High temperatures will approach 30°C, making it ideal for pre-holiday cleaning. However, due to radiative cooling, significant day-night temperature differences are expected. Fog is likely to form in the mornings in Kinmen, Matsu, and western Taiwan, requiring caution.
Extended Forecast (February 16th – 21st)
On “New Year’s Eve” (February 16th), a northeasterly wind will begin to move south in the afternoon, bringing localized showers to northern and eastern Taiwan and cooling temperatures in the north. The following days (“First and Second New Year Days”, February 17th & 18th) will see continued influence from the northeasterly wind, with a chance of localized showers in the north and east, and cooler temperatures. Central and southern Taiwan will remain mostly sunny with minimal impact.
By “Third New Year Day” (February 19th), the wind will weaken and temperatures will rise. Northern regions will improve to partly cloudy, while central and southern Taiwan will be sunny. Eastern Taiwan may experience occasional, localized showers. Forecasts beyond “Third New Year Day” are inconsistent between models and should be monitored closely.
