Olandria Carthen: From Reality TV to Fashion Week Icon
Taking home the unofficial trophy for Best Paris Haute Couture Week Guest was just the start for Olandria Carthen. The Love Island alum is quickly becoming a fashion force, and her presence at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is proof. Olandria, known as one half of the beloved ‘Nicolandria’ couple from Season 7, made a striking entrance at an invite-only YSL Beauty event in Manhattan.
A Saint Laurent Moment
Carthen kicked off her NYFW run with a show-stopping look: a little black dress from Saint Laurent’s archives. Stylists Matthew and Reginald Reisman expertly sourced a four-year-old shift dress from the Resort 2022 collection. The dress was reimagined as a sleeveless version, with a hemline that gracefully grazed the ruby red carpet. However, the focal point remained the perforated empire-length bust, adorned with scalloped trim and strategically placed slashes for a touch of edge. Four under-bust cutouts continued the scallop motif, adding a modern and alluring detail. The ensemble was completed with two-tone, geometric earrings, also from Saint Laurent.
Déjà Vu: A Look Shared with Zoë Kravitz
Where have we seen this stunning Saint Laurent dress before? The answer is Zoë Kravitz! Creative director Anthony Vaccarello originally designed the cutout-heavy LBD for the Saint Laurent ambassador. Four years ago, Kravitz wore the same halter number to the London premiere of The Batman. While Carthen opted for pointy black pumps, Kravitz chose patent leather mules, both from the French luxury house. Kravitz’s jewelry, curated by Jessica McCormack, featured a breathtaking emerald east-west ring valued at $52,000.

The Power of a Shared Style
In Hollywood, wearing a look previously donned by another celebrity is a true status symbol. Recent examples include Blake Lively in Britney Spears’s Versace dress, Keke Palmer in Jamie Lee Curtis’s Chanel gown, Sabrina Carpenter in Madonna’s Bob Mackie gown, and Sydney Sweeney in Marilyn Monroe’s Ceil Chapman dress. While Carthen’s choice is more contemporary, it rightfully earns a place among these iconic fashion moments.
