Nashville SC: The League’s Current Powerhouse
After a brief setback in the Leagues Cup, Nashville SC has returned to league play in blistering form. The team is currently sitting comfortably at the top of the MLS standings with 46 points (14-4-2), holding a seven-point lead over Inter Miami in the race for the prestigious Supporters’ Shield.
Their recent momentum is undeniable, coming off two massive victories:
- n
- A 1-0 thriller against Red Bull New York, sealed by a dramatic 92nd-minute goal from Maxwell Woledzi.
- A dominant 4-1 demolition of Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, proving they can compete with the league’s biggest stars.
Key Players to Watch
Nashville’s success is driven by a potent attacking trio. Sam Surridge leads the charge with 12 goals, while Hany Mukhtar remains a constant threat with eight goals. Adding the creative spark is Cristian Espinoza, whose 10 assists have been pivotal in breaking down opposing defenses.
On the other side, the Columbus Crew will be relying heavily on Diego Rossi, their top scorer with six goals, to spark a turnaround in their current form.
Columbus Crew: Searching for a Spark
Unlike their opponents, Columbus arrives in Nashville struggling for consistency. Currently ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference with 20 points, the Crew have suffered two consecutive losses, including a recent 2-1 defeat to Montreal. To pull off an upset, Columbus will need to tighten their defense and find a way to neutralize Nashville’s high-pressure offense.
Tactical News: The Return of Patrick Yazbek
In a significant boost for the home side, Nashville has confirmed the starting 11, featuring the return of Patrick Yazbek. Yazbek starts for the first time since his injury in May, bringing much-needed depth and energy to the midfield after a successful substitute appearance earlier this week.
Nashville SC Starting Lineup:
