WWE SmackDown Results: Chaos in Boston as Titles Change Hands and Rivalries Explode

The energy in Boston was electric this Friday, August 14, as WWE SmackDown delivered a night filled with shocking betrayals, title shifts, and high-octane brawls. From surprise attacks to the crowning of new champions, the landscape of the blue brand has been completely reshaped.

The Viper Strikes: Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes

In one of the most shocking moments of the night, Randy Orton proved once again why he is called “The Viper.” Just as Cody Rhodes was preparing for his clash with Sami Zayn, Orton launched a devastating surprise attack. This didn’t just stop a match; it ignited an out-of-control destructive brawl that tore through the arena, leaving fans stunned and the rivalry between these two icons at a boiling point.

New Gold in Town: Championship Changes

The night was defined by the shifting of power as two major championships changed hands through cunning and power:

• Women’s United States Championship: In a controversial finish, Jacy Jayne and the Fatal Influence collective used nefarious tactics to steal the title from Tiffany Stratton. Despite Stratton’s resilience, a well-timed Rolling Encore secured the three-count for Jayne.
• WWE Tag Team Championship: The MFTs (Tama and Talla Tonga) captured the gold in a chaotic Triple Threat Match. With the legendary Haku watching from ringside, the Tongas utilized a rake of the eyes and a thunderous Brother’s Keeper on R-Truth to defeat the champions Damian Priest & R-Truth and The War Raiders.

High-Stakes Battles and Hard-Hitting Action

The ring saw plenty of grit and determination throughout the evening. Gunther, the “Ring General,” dominated in an impromptu match against Matt Cardona. Despite Cardona’s valiant effort to defend his wife, Chelsea Green, Gunther forced him to tap out to a brutal Boston Crab.

Meanwhile, Baron Corbin successfully defended his United States Title against Carmelo Hayes. However, the victory was tainted by Corbin’s questionable tactics. The celebration was short-lived, as Trick Williams and Lil Yachty executed a swift sneak attack on the champion immediately after the bell.

The Road to Toronto: CM Punk and Kevin Owens

The tension reached a fever pitch when CM Punk and Kevin Owens came face-to-face. The two engaged in a highly personal and heated war of words, setting the stage for their massive Undisputed WWE Championship Match scheduled for next week in Toronto. This is more than a title fight; it’s a battle of legacies.

Other Quick Highlights:

• Chelsea Green: GM Nick Aldis gave Green a 30-day window to become medically cleared from her broken orbital bone before she must relinquish the Interim Women’s Championship.
• Shinsuke Nakamura: Teased a return with a mysterious new partner.
• Charlotte Flair: Shared a hilarious yet tense reaction to Tatum Paxley’s eccentric dressing room decor.
