Santos vs Remo: A High-Stakes Battle at Vila Belmiro
The excitement is building as Santos prepares to host Remo this Saturday at 9 PM (Brasília time) in the legendary Vila Belmiro. This match marks the first leg of the Round of 16 in the Copa do Brasil 2026, a tournament where every goal can define a team’s destiny.
With the home-field advantage, Santos is looking to secure a comfortable lead before heading into the second leg. After a mixed run in the Brazilian Championship, including a stumble against Chapecoense, the Peixe found their rhythm recently by defeating Universidad Central in the Copa Sul-Americana. Coach Cuca is determined to keep this momentum going, aiming for a dominant performance that provides the squad with confidence and peace of mind.
The Challenge for Remo
On the other side of the pitch, Remo arrives in São Paulo facing an uphill battle. The Leão has struggled with inconsistency in the league and has a poor recent record when playing in the state of São Paulo, suffering defeats against both Corinthians and Mirassol. For Coach Léo Condé, the goal is clear: neutralize Santos’ attack and snatch a result that keeps them alive for the return leg.
Probable Lineups and Tactical Outlook
Santos FC (Coach: Cuca)
The biggest news for the fans is the expected return of global superstar Neymar, alongside Lucas Veríssimo and Gabriel Bontempo, who should reclaim their spots in the starting eleven. Cuca has most of his squad available, though some key absences remain.

Clube do Remo (Coach: Léo Condé)
Remo faces significant hurdles due to contractual clauses. Both Zé Ivaldo and Patrick are unavailable as they are owned by Santos, adding to the defensive concerns for the visitors.
- Probable XI: Marcelo Rangel; Marcelinho, Marllon, Matheus Felipe, Mayk; Zé Welison, Picco, Zé Ricardo; Pikachu, Jajá, and Alef Manga.
- Out: Zé Ivaldo, Patrick, and Tchamba (injury recovery).
