The Battle for Bracket Supremacy
The Alumni Bracket: A Clash of Legacies
The Alumni side of the bracket is narrowing down to the elite. Currently, JHX Hoops (representing Kansas alumni) and AfterShocks (Wichita State alumni) are locked in a fierce battle for a spot in the Alumni Bracket Championship on July 29.
The winner of this showdown will face the formidable La Familia (Kentucky alumni). La Familia has proven to be the most battle-tested squad, having already overcome The Ville and Boeheim’s Army in grueling contests.
The Vegas Bracket: The Road to the Knockouts
Over in Las Vegas, the competition is just as fierce. We are seeing critical matchups that will determine who moves forward in the knockout rounds:
- Red Rose War Ready vs. Gotham City Bockers: The victor will advance to face Davis Steel, who earned a coveted bye after dominating Group A.
- Knueppel Crew vs. The Mecca: The winner here will face Heartfire Elite, the top seed from Group B who also secured a bye into Round 2.
The ultimate goal? The winners of the Vegas and Alumni brackets will collide in the TBT Championship on August 2 to decide who takes home the millions.
What Makes the TBT Tournament Unique?
The Elam Ending: No More Clock-Watching
One of the most exciting aspects of the TBT is the Elam Ending. Forget the traditional final two minutes of nail-biting clock management. In the TBT, the game clock is turned off in the fourth quarter, and a target score is set (the leading team’s score plus eight points). The first team to hit that number wins instantly, ensuring every game ends on a game-winning shot.
The 2026 Format
For the 2026 season, the tournament has streamlined its field to 14 elite teams. This includes eight alumni squads competing in best-of-three series and six non-alumni squads battling through group play and knockout rounds in Las Vegas.
With AfterShocks holding the title from 2025, the question remains: Can they defend their throne, or will a new powerhouse rise to claim the $2 million?
